正面描述 Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Maximinus I Thrax facing right, portrayed in three-quarter rear view, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and lorica segmentata rendered in relief. The imperial effigy is rendered in a bold, provincial style characteristic of Mysian civic coinage. A partially legible Greek legend in large characters encircles the bust within the border of dots. The flan bears a suspension hole pierced at the top, indicating later re-use as a pendant.

附加信息

Scepsis was a minor Troad city with an outsized claim to literary history — ancient sources record that Aristotle's personal library passed through the town before eventually reaching Alexandria. Coinage under Maximinus Thrax is scarce from this mint precisely because his reign lasted barely three years and ended in his murder outside Aquileia in 238, the same year the Senate declared him a public enemy. Provincial output for such a brief and chaotic reign was never substantial.
