Obverse description Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximus Caesar facing right, seen from the rear, with paludamentum visible at the truncation. The legend IVL MAXIMVS CAE (with retrograde S) runs around the periphery in Latin characters within a dotted border. The portrait exhibits the youthful features characteristic of Maximus as Caesar under his father Maximinus Thrax, rendered in the provincial style of the Alexandrian Troas mint.
