| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Maximinus I (Thrax) facing right, rendered in the robust provincial style characteristic of the Alexandrian Troas mint. The portrait conveys the emperor's characteristically broad, powerful features. The encircling Latin legend runs around the periphery of the field, with the retrograde S noted in the imperial titulature. The flan shows the somewhat irregular striking typical of provincial bronze coinage of this period. |
