| 裏面の説明 | Turreted Hera, the principal deity of Chalcis, seated left upon her sacred conical stone (the baetyl), rendered in a static, hieratic style befitting a cult image. The goddess holds a patera in her extended right hand and a long sceptre in her left. The reverse legend in two parts identifies the deity and the issuing civic authority. The composition reflects the deep cultic significance of Hera at Chalcis and is a hallmark type of this mint's provincial bronze coinage. |
