Reverse description Zeus enthroned to the left, seated upon a high-backed throne, his right hand extended to offer a patera and his left hand grasping a long vertical sceptre. The deity is rendered in the classical Pheidian tradition, with flowing drapery across the lower body. The ethnic legend ΑΡΓΕΙωΝ is inscribed in the field, identifying the issuing civic authority of Argos. The flan is irregular and shows characteristic signs of hand-hammered provincial manufacture.
