The portrait is rendered in the provincial style typical of Phrygian civic coinage, with visible drapery folds over the shoulder. His right foot rests upon a bucranium (ox skull). He holds a long sceptre in one hand and a small cult statue in the other. The ethnic legend ΙοΥΛΙΕΩΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing city of Iulia in Phrygia. The figure is rendered in the provincial artistic style common to Phrygian civic bronzes of the Antonine period. |
