| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Lucius Verus facing right, with curly beard rendered in the Antonine style. The portrait displays the characteristic full beard and wavy hair of the emperor, executed in a provincial die-cutting style typical of Argive coinage. The circular Greek legend ΟΥΗΡΟΣ ΑΥΓΟΥΣΤΟΣ surrounds the bust, reading partially around the periphery of the flan. The flan is irregularly struck, with some weakness at the edges, and the coin has developed a green patina consistent with long burial. |

| Additional information |
Argos struck bronze coinage under Lucius Verus with notable irregularity — the city's output during the joint reign with Marcus Aurelius was limited, and provincial issues attributable specifically to Argive authority from this period remain scarcer than those of neighboring Corinth or Patras. The ΑΡΓΕΙΩΝ ethnic places this firmly within the civic coinage tradition of the Peloponnese, issued under Roman provincial administration but asserting local identity through Greek-language legend.
