Reverse description Standing draped female figure facing front, her head turned slightly to one side, with arms extended; she holds attributes in each hand, possibly a patera or wreath to one side and a sceptre or spear to the other, consistent with a representation of Hera, the principal deity venerated at Argos. The figure is rendered in a stiff, provincial style with finely pleated drapery falling to the feet. The ethnic legend ΑΡΓΕΙΩΝ appears in the field around the figure, identifying the issuing city of Argos. The flan is slightly oval and the strike somewhat off-centre, characteristic of hammered provincial bronzes of this period.
