Cyzicus was among the most strategically valuable cities on the Propontis, and its civic coinage under Hadrian reflects a municipality investing heavily in its own prestige during a reign defined by provincial patronage. The archon name preserved in the obverse legend — ΑΡΧ ΚΛ ΕΥΝΕΩ — identifies a local magistrate otherwise unattested in the literary record, making this coin one of the few surviving documents of his existence.
