Reverse description Depiction of the celebrated Sanctuary of Aphrodite at Paphos (Cyprus), rendered in the conventional frontal architectural scheme: a central cult idol of Aphrodite flanked by two columns surmounted by cone-shaped baetyl stones, with subsidiary architectural elements and a pediment visible above. This type celebrates the city of Sardis's association with the Paphian Aphrodite cult and its twice-awarded neocorate status. The Greek legend runs around the field, partially affected by the coin's irregular and chipped flan.
