| Descrizione del rovescio | A monumental temple or civic building is depicted frontally, featuring a large central doorway flanked by columns; atop the structure stand three statues of Demeter, each carrying a torch, referencing the city's celebrated mystery cult. On either side of the building, a flaming torch entwined by a serpent serves as an additional cultic symbol associated with Demeter and the Eleusinian Mysteries as celebrated at Cyzicus. The reverse type commemorates the city's twice-granted neocorate status. The Greek civic legend encircles the composition within a beaded border. |
