| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Demos facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Carian civic coinage of the third century AD. The bust exhibits a radiate laurel wreath, with drapery visible at the truncation. The circular Greek legend ΙΕΡΟϹ ΔΗΜΟϹ (Sacred People) runs around the periphery of the field, identifying the obverse type as a personification of the civic body of Aphrodisias rather than an imperial portrait. |
