Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic Severan three-quarter back view. The emperor's laurel wreath and military cuirass are rendered in the provincial style typical of the Pergamene conventus. The Greek legend ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ runs along the right field, identifying the emperor by his dynastic name Antoninus. The flan is irregular, and the surfaces show the characteristic dark patina of Asian provincial bronze coinage.
