| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Caracalla (Marcus Aurelius Antoninus) facing right, with cuirass visible at the truncation. The portrait is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Phoenician mint at Tyre. The surrounding Latin legend reads IMP CAES M AV ANTONINVS AV, identifying the emperor by his imperial titles. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, typical of provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period. Considerable surface patination obscures fine detail. |
