| 正面铭文 | Μ Α ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟϹ ΚΑ(Ϲ) (sic) |
| 背面描述 | The Tyche of Edessa is depicted seated left upon a rocky outcrop, her right hand extended and holding stalks of grain, symbolising the city's prosperity and fertility. At her feet stands a lighted altar, a common votive element in Mesopotamian civic imagery. Below the rocky exergual line, the river god Skirtus (or Daisan) is shown swimming left, his body partially submerged, personifying the local watercourse sacred to the city. The reverse legend naming the Macedonian Aurelian colony of Edessa is distributed around the field. The composition follows established conventions for Edessan civic reverse types of the Severan period. |
