| Beschrijving keerzijde | Sarapis enthroned, seated to the left, wearing the characteristic modius (kalathos) on his head. In his left hand he holds a long sceptre, while his right hand is extended forward over Cerberus, the three-headed dog of the underworld, who sits at his feet to the left. The composition reflects the syncretic Graeco-Egyptian cult of Sarapis as practiced in Asia Minor during the Severan period. The reverse legend ΕΠΙ ΠΡΟΚΛΟΥ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΕΩΝ encircles the field, naming the local magistrate Proklos and the civic authority of Hadrianeia. |
