Aanvullende informatie

Caesarea Paneas — formerly Panias, later Banias — sat at the foot of Mount Hermon near a spring sacred to Pan, and its civic coinage under Elagabalus reflects a city still navigating its identity between Hellenistic religious tradition and Roman imperial obligation. The reign itself was brief and chaotic: Elagabalus ruled just four years before the Praetorian Guard murdered him in 222 AD and dragged his body through Rome's streets. Provincial issues from his reign are underrepresented in major collections partly because so few series ran long enough to accumulate significant output.

The partial legend reading ϹΚ likely refers to a civic year reckoning under the Pompeian era, which Caesarea Paneas used for local dating — pinning this piece to a narrow window within the reign.
