| Obverse description | Draped bust of the personified Senate (ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ) facing left, rendered in the conventional Greco-Roman provincial style with drapery visible at the truncation. The legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ, meaning 'Sacred Senate,' runs around the periphery of the flan. The strike is somewhat weak and the surface heavily worn, consistent with the irregular hammered flan typical of Flavian-era provincial bronzes from Caria. |
