| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Commodus facing right, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The Greek imperial titulature legend ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΜΑΡ ΚΟΜΟΔΟϹ ΑΝΤωΝΙΝΟϹ runs around the periphery. The portrait is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Bithynian mint production, with bold but somewhat coarse engraving typical of civic bronzes of the Antonine period. The flan is irregular and shows the characteristic uneven edges of a hand-struck provincial issue. |
