Abila of the Decapolis — not to be confused with Abila in Lysanias — sat within the Provincia Arabia as organized by Trajan following the annexation of the Nabataean kingdom in 106 AD. Municipal bronzes of this region under Commodus are poorly documented in major collections, and the fragmented legend visible in this type reflects the localized titulature conventions of Decapolitan civic minting rather than any die-cutter error. The city held the Pompeian era as its civic calendar base, a dating system that persisted stubbornly through the Antonine period.
