| 正面描述 | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, depicted from the front, with a gorgoneion (Medusa head apotropaic device) rendered on the breastplate of the cuirass. The imperial legend is disposed around the bust in Latin characters. The portrait reflects the characteristic square-jawed, stern physiognomy associated with Caracallan coinage from the Roman provincial series. |

Alexandria Troas held the status of a Roman colony — Colonia Augusta Troas — granted under Augustus, which gave the city the right to strike bronze coinage in its own name rather than relying on the provincial mint network. That colonial status is the entire reason this coin exists: it reflects a civic privilege jealously maintained and exercised through the Severan period, when Caracalla's reign saw a marked uptick in colonial bronze production across Asia Minor as local élites competed for imperial favor.
