Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, with traces of drapery visible at the truncation, rendered in the typical provincial portraiture style. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic beard and mature facial features. The encircling Greek legend runs along the outer border of the flan.

Reverse description A war galley (trireme or bireme) depicted in left profile, under full sail, with a mast bearing a billowing sail supported by stays. The hull shows a row of rowers — approximately seven oarsmen visible — along the lower deck, with oars extended into the water. The prow curves upward at the bow, and the stern features an aphlaston. The ethnic legend of the city of Amastris encircles the design along the border.
