| Reverse description | The bearded river-god Kilbos reclines to the left in the traditional Hellenistic manner, his body supported on an overturned water-urn from which a stream flows, while his right hand holds a reed. The semi-recumbent figure occupies the central field, and the ethnic legend of the Kilbianoi people around Nicaea is disposed in the lower exergual area and surrounding field. The composition reflects the standard provincial iconographic convention for personifying local rivers and waterways. |
