| Obverse description | Bare-headed and laureate bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, with short beard, the emperor depicted in the mature provincial style typical of Ephesian civic coinage. The laureate wreath is rendered in low relief with individual leaves discernible despite wear. The Greek legend ΚΑΙϹΑΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝοϹ runs along the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays the characteristic heavy-jowled, full-bearded physiognomy associated with Antoninus Pius in his later regnal years. |
