Obverse description Confronted jugate busts of the Caesars Titus, left, and Domitian, right, both laureate, facing one another at center. The two effigies are depicted in a close vis-à-vis arrangement with naturalistic portraiture typical of Flavian provincial coinage. A circular Greek legend runs around the periphery of the field, partially in retrograde, reading ΤΙΤΟϹ ΔΟΜΙΤΙΑΝΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡΕϹ. The coin presents the heirs of Vespasian in a composition underscoring dynastic legitimacy, characteristic of the Smyrna conventus workshop.
