Obverse description Radiate, cuirassed bust of Valerian facing left, depicted from the rear in a distinctive three-quarter back view with a shield visible on the right shoulder. The emperor's military attire is rendered with fine detail typical of provincial Greek bronze coinage. The encircling legend in Greek characters names the emperor with his full titulature. The portrait style reflects the provincial workshop tradition of Bithynia under joint imperial rule.
