正面描述 Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian I facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter perspective employed on provincial bronzes of this period. The radiate crown is rendered with pronounced spikes, and the military cuirass with draping paludamentum are visible below. A Greek legend encircles the effigy, naming the emperor in the accusative case as was customary for provincial civic coinage of Phrygia during the joint reign of Valerian and Gallienus.

背面描述 The goddess Cybele, the Magna Mater and principal tutelary deity of Phrygia, is depicted enthroned and facing right, flanked on either side by a seated lion. In her raised right hand she holds a patera, while her left arm rests upon a tympanum. The composition reflects the deep religious significance of Cybele's cult at Cotiaeum and its surrounding region, and the reverse type is characteristic of civic bronzes struck in this part of Asia Minor during the third century AD. The multi-line Greek legend distributed in the field names the local magistrate responsible for the issue.
