Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian I facing right, presented in three-quarter rear view, with the radiate crown rendered in the provincial style typical of Bithynian coinage of the mid-third century AD. The paludamentum and segmented cuirass are visible at the truncation, with folds rendered in low relief. A beaded border frames the entire field. The Greek legend encircles the bust, identifying the emperor by his full titulature.
