The legend encircles the bust in Greek characters, reading Γ ΒΙ ΤΕΡ ΓΑΛΛΟϹ ΑΥ, abbreviated form of Gaius Vibius Trebonianus Gallus Augustus. The radiate crown, comprising seven or more points, is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Bithynian civic coinage of the mid-third century. The overall execution reflects the competent but provincial die-cutting tradition of the Nicomedian mint. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Emperor Trebonianus Gallus depicted as a radiate figure on horseback, moving to the left, raising his right hand in a gesture of adlocutio or salutation, while his left hand grasps a long transverse sceptre. The horse is shown in a prancing or walking pose, consistent with provincial equestrian imagery of the period. The encircling Greek legend ΝΙΚΟΜΗΔΕΩΝ ΔΙϹ ΝΕΩΚΟΡΩΝ proclaims Nicomedia's proud status as a twice-awarded neocorate city, honoured with the right to maintain an imperial cult temple on two occasions.
