| Beschrijving keerzijde | Dionysus, the principal deity of Acmonea, stands facing left in a relaxed contrapposto posture. In his outstretched right hand he holds a cantharus, tilted downward over a panther crouching at his feet, while his left hand supports a long thyrsus rising vertically beside him. The composition reflects the standard Dionysiac type favored by Phrygian civic coinage of this period. The ethnic legend of the Acmoneans encircles the type. |
