| Obverse description | Laureate bust of the emperor Trajan facing right, draped and cuirassed, depicted from a rear three-quarter perspective, a convention characteristic of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The laureate wreath is visible atop the imperial effigy, with the paludamentum draped over the left shoulder and the cuirass rendered in low relief. A Greek legend encircles the bust along the periphery of the flan. The portrait style reflects the localised artistic tradition of the Alexandrian mint, with somewhat broader facial modelling than metropolitan Roman issues. |

| Reverse description | The Agathodaemon, the protective serpent deity of Alexandria, depicted erect and rearing to the right, its head crowned with the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt (skhent). The serpent's coils entwine both a caduceus and a stalk of grain (corn), emblems respectively of Hermes-Mercury and of Egyptian agricultural abundance. The composition fills the central field with the sinuous upright form of the serpent, a well-established reverse type on Alexandrian coinage of the Trajanic period. The regnal year legend appears in the field. |
