Reverse description Ithyphallic cult statue of Priapus, bearded and draped, standing left upon a rectangular base, the deity's characteristic attribute prominently displayed. In his extended right hand he holds a cantharus poised above a lighted altar, while his left hand grasps a long filleted thyrsus. The composition reflects the longstanding veneration of Priapus at Lampsacus, his legendary birthplace, and represents a distinctive and rare reverse type in the civic bronze coinage of Mysia under Trajan Decius.
