| Descrizione del rovescio | Ithyphallic cult statue of the bearded deity Priapus, standing left upon a rectangular pedestal base, rendered in the archaic xoanon style characteristic of his veneration at Lampsacus. The figure holds a cantharus (drinking cup) extended over a lighted altar in the left field, while the right hand grasps a long, fillet-adorned thyrsus. This reverse type reflects the exceptional religious significance of Priapus as the tutelary deity of Lampsacus, and its appearance on civic coinage underscores the city's proud local cult tradition. The divided Greek legend flanking the type records the civic ethnic and the name of the local magistrate Secundus. |
