Deultum — formally Colonia Flavia Pacis Deultensium — was a Roman veteran colony planted on the Black Sea coast of Thrace, settled by discharged soldiers of the Classis Perinthia. Unlike many provincial mints operating under civic authority, Deultum's bronze issues were tied closely to the colony's self-governing Latin status, a rarity in the Greek-speaking east. Production effectively ceased after the reign of Gordian III, making the Severan-era pieces the last substantial output before the mint went silent permanently.
