| Obverse description | Radiate, draped bust of Severus Alexander facing right, the radiate crown rendered with distinctive spikes above the laureate wreath, with paludamentum visible at the truncation. The imperial effigy is portrayed in a youthful manner consistent with Severan provincial coinage from Mesopotamia. The surrounding Greek legend runs along the outer border of the flan. The style is typical of the Edessan civic mint, displaying a broad, slightly irregular flan characteristic of Eastern provincial bronzes. |
