A lighted altar appears at her feet before her, and in the exergue below, a river god swims to the right, likely representing the Daisan (Skirtos) river associated with Edessa. The reverse legend ΜΗΤ ΚΟΛ ΕΔΕϹϹΗΝωΝ, distributed around the field, identifies the city as a metropolis and colony. The composition is typical of the civic reverse types produced at Edessa under the Severan dynasty. |
