| Obverse description | Tyche depicted standing facing, head turned to left, draped in long garment; she holds a ship's rudder in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left hand. The legend ΕΠΙ ΛΕΟΝΤΟϹ ΑΛΚΑΙΟΥ surrounds the figure, identifying the magistrate Leon, son of Alcaios, under whose authority the coin was issued. The type follows the standard civic iconography of Tyche as guardian deity of the city of Stratonicea. |
