Obverse description Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, her characteristic elaborately waved and coiled hair rendered in fine detail with a large bun at the nape. The empress is depicted with drapery visible at the truncation, rendered in the provincial style typical of Bithynian civic coinage. The Greek legend encircles the bust within a beaded border, identifying her with the title Augusta.

Reverse description Poseidon, the god of the sea, stands facing right, his nude or semi-draped figure rendered in the provincial Hellenistic tradition. In his right hand he holds a dolphin, while his left hand grasps a long trident; at his feet to the right is the prow of a ship, referencing the maritime associations of the city of Prusa. The encircling Greek ethnic legend identifies the issuing civic authority within a beaded border.
