| Obverse description | Draped bust of the personified Roman Senate facing right, depicted with a laureate or wreathed head in the Hellenistic tradition. The effigy is rendered in typical provincial style, with drapery visible at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ (Sacred Senate) runs around the periphery of the field. The die work is characteristic of the Smyrnaean mint under Philip I, with a slightly irregular flan typical of hand-struck provincial bronze coinage. |
