| Obverse description | Radiate and draped bust of Apollo Lairbenos facing right, depicted with long flowing hair and a radiate crown of elongated rays, rendered in the provincial Greek style characteristic of Phrygian civic coinage. The bust is shown with drapery across the left shoulder, the facial features rendered with a bearded visage appropriate to the local syncretic deity. The abbreviated legend ΛΑΙΡΒΗΝΟϹ appears in the right field, identifying the figure as the local Phrygian god Lairbenos, a regional manifestation of Apollo worshipped at Hierapolis. |
