Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Otho facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style with visible layering of the laurel wreath across the top of the head. The portrait, though attributed tentatively to Otho, displays the characteristic close-cropped hair and strong jaw typical of Julio-Claudian and early Flavian-era provincial portraiture. The surrounding Greek legend arcs around the upper and lower fields of the flan. The flan is irregular and slightly off-centre, as is typical of provincial bronze coinage of this period.
Obverse script Greek
Obverse lettering ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑ ΟΘΩΝΑ
(Translation: for Emperor Otho)
