Maximinus never visited the eastern provinces — he spent his entire reign campaigning on the Rhine and Danube frontiers before his troops murdered him outside Aquileia in 238. The ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ ethnic confirms civic, not imperial, mint authority — Nicaea administered its own bronze production throughout this period.
