Obverse description Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximus Caesar facing right, portrayed as a youthful prince with short wavy hair; the paludamentum is visible over the left shoulder, and the cuirass is rendered with fine detail. The encircling Greek legend runs along the outer border, partially legible on this worn and holed specimen. The portrait reflects the provincial workshop style characteristic of Bithynian civic coinage under the Severan and Maximinian period.
