He holds a cornucopia in one arm, symbolising the fertility and abundance of the river, while his other arm rests upon an overturned vase from which water pours freely. The Greek legend surrounding the type identifies the issuing city and the presiding magistrate, providing important epigraphic evidence for the civic administration of Hadrianopolis under Maximinus Thrax. |
