Reverse description Elpis, the personification of Hope, depicted standing to the left in full figure, draped in a long chiton. She raises her right hand to lift the hem of her garment in the characteristic Elpis gesture, while holding a flower in her left hand. The regnal year legend appears in the field, identifying this as a product of the Alexandrian mint during the reign of Marcus Aurelius. The overall fabric is heavily patinated and worn, with the flan showing characteristic irregular edges of hand-struck provincial coinage.
