| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large serpent coiled around a domed omphalos (sacred navel stone), its head raised and turned to the right, rendered in fine relief against a plain field. The omphalos is shown resting on a low base or altar, with the serpent's body encircling it in multiple overlapping coils, a type associated with oracular and chthonic cult worship in Asia Minor. The encircling Greek legend references the local magistrate (archon) Ladis Severos and the city of Philadelphia. The composition is centrally placed and occupies the majority of the reverse field, with the legend distributed around the periphery. |
