| Beschrijving keerzijde | Asclepius, the god of medicine, stands facing in the centre of the field, his head turned to the left; he is depicted in the canonical type, lightly draped about the lower body, and holds a tall serpent-entwined staff (kerykeion of Asclepius) in his left hand while his right arm rests at his side. The Greek legend of the strategos Anthos and the civic ethnic of Pitane encircles the figure. The rendering is consistent with the provincial Mysian workshop style of the mid-second century AD. |
