Beschrijving voorzijde Laureate head of Emperor Macrinus facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style with a bearded portrait and thick laurel wreath. The effigy is set within a dotted border, with the Greek imperial legend distributed around the periphery of the field. The portrait displays the characteristic broad facial features and short beard associated with Macrinus's numismatic iconography.

Aanvullende informatie

Prusa ad Olympum — modern Bursa — was a prosperous Bithynian city founded, according to tradition, by the Prusias kings of Bithynia, and its civic bronze issues under Macrinus belong to one of the shortest imperial reigns in Roman history. Macrinus ruled just fourteen months before being defeated by the forces of Elagabalus at the Battle of Antioch in June 218 and subsequently executed. Provincial mints like Prusa had barely enough time to produce a full civic bronze series during his tenure.
