| Reverse description | A caduceus prominently displayed at center, flanked on either side by a single ear of grain, the whole composition set within the plain field of the flan. The caduceus, symbol of Hermes-Mercury and of commerce and prosperity, is rendered in a schematic but recognizable Alexandrian style. The regnal year legend appears in the lower field. The reverse type is a common motif on Hadrianic Alexandrian bronzes, reflecting the agricultural and commercial prosperity of Egypt. |
