Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, portrayed from behind, revealing the elaborate folds of the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and the scales of the lorica squamata. The emperor's head bears a wreath of laurel, and his mature, bearded portrait is rendered in the characteristic Hadrianic style of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙϹ ΤΡΑΙΑΝ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying him as Emperor Caesar Trajan Hadrian Augustus.
