The Greek imperial legend is disposed in two arcs around the bust within a beaded border. On her knee she supports the infant Harpocrates, who wears the pschent double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt and raises his right hand in the characteristic gesture of childhood. A tall palm branch stands in the right field, a symbol of victory and divine favour. The composition masterfully blends Egyptian theological iconography with the artistic conventions of the Roman provincial mint at Alexandria. The date regnal year legend L ΙϚ appears in the field. |
